Why do you need a mod to delay the main quest? I know you have to go through the intro bit to create your character, but as long as you don't head to Weynon Priory, nothing will move forward in the main quest. You can even do that bit and just avoid a certain part of the main quest that occurs in Kvatch.

What does the mod do exactly?

I have hit a snag, and I'm unable to play anything right now. Both Oblivion an LOTRO are unplayable. Why? Something has happened where I can play those games for a short while, but then my PC forgets I have a monitor... signal lost. CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the task manager drops me to the desktop and brings my visuals back online, but if I return to the game, a few seconds (if that) later I return to a black screen. I've updated my graphics card driver to no avail... but I'm not sure what else to do. Any tips?

I can see why you would want to avoid leaving the main quest hanging after the pressure the intro quest puts on you. How does the mod handle character creation though? Do you just select skills and birthsign on text screens before entering the world?

The risk with getting arrested is that you can lose status with some guilds/factions. After completing the Knights of the Nine, I have a nice suit of armor. Unfortunately, I have to stay virtuous to keep wearing it. Not really unfortunate since I'm playing a paladin orc, but it can be problmatic. Some of my rings provide reflective damage... and quite often in large fights, if a friendly npc accidently hits me, some of the damage is reflectied back, and I get a warning that my actions have been noted. If the fight continues it usually ends with me being stripped of all my armor because I'm not worthy, and told to go on a pilgrimmage. This is one reason I save often. It's not evil for someone to get hurt when hitting me... but the game doesn't see it that way.

Anyway, the point is getting arrested might cause other problems later. I believe the fighters guild amongst others, kicks you out if you get arrested.

As for my graphic problems... the problem suddenly started happening with an older driver, which is when I upgraded. Had been using the old one for a while so I don't think that was it.

It could be over heating, but that would mean that leaving a game and dropping to the desktop provides instant cooling.

I'm using a DVI cable, so I might downgrade and try a normal cable, then try cleaning out dust and whatnot from inside my case... haven't done that for a few months now. If none of those works, it'll have to be a rebuild... which is always a daunting task.

Hmmm, no, getting arrested does not get you kicked out of the Fighter's Guild - my old character got arrested twice, both times because of plot elements. The second one he kind of deserved it.... (Nudity spell at a state dinner... don't ask. )

Just picked up Knights of the Nine, much happier with that than Shivering Isle. Brought my old character out of retirement for it. Shivering Isle is not a 'good guy' quest.

And yeah, when using the quest delay it pretty much assumes that you know what you are doing, less leading you along to pick birthsign etc.

Heat is a huge issue with 3D games, and there's not too many games that aren't 3d these days.

My older computer had major problems with heat due to the fact that I orginally grabbed a bargin basement case and kept upgrading the insides for 7 years.

Now with a system that's been rebuilt in a decent case, the computer is MUCH more stable, and quieter to boot.

This game is a big part of my decision to upgrade my computer - my mache just would not handle a graphics card that can handle it at any thing more than low settings.

Some of the mods are very nice - after I get my new machine I am adding one of the most useless, but amazingly nifty mods I have ever seen - , which adds working clocks to the game. Link is to The Elder Scrolls Source.



You get to go inside some of the clocks! How could I resist that?

Well I beat the game and head the Mages guild.

Now what? I'm very disapointed at the lack of good quest mods, tried a few but beat them in less than 20 min.

Now Morrowind had some really good quest mods! Maybe I will go play that again.

There are loads out there, but they can be hard to find since you have to search through masses of junk.

That is indeed the place to go for quests, some big, some small, and at least one 'Oi! This thing is big!'

There are some entertaining quests out there, not all of them combat oriented, though many are.

The Romancing of Eyja - Just that - a romance quest.

The Knights of the White Stalion - expands upon Mazoga the Orc's quest to become a knight. This is one of my favorite concepts, I like Mazoga, and felt that Bethesda should have gone further with both her and the Knights.

Ok this is the mod. Allows your character to pose. Right now I have him looking at his sword. Its only real purpose is for screen shots.

The armor and sword is from its ok. I found it too easy to beat. But the new monster is pretty cool looking. The armor is not as powerful as the Knights of the Nine armor so I would not call it over powered.

I might actually play this game, though CRPGs usually bore me. My wife played it for weeks, then found she hadn't really been playing it at all when she upgraded to a quad-core processor and a big-ass monitor. It's frickin' gorgeous!

Stalker has been on my wishlist since before launch... I didn't get it for my birthday, but I'm hoping Christmas. I just need to rebuild my PC before then to see if I can get it to run smoothly.

Heheh...actually the wife has a better computer because I bought it for her. She has never owned one built just for her. Always ones built from older/left over parts. I've been trying to convince her to let me buy her one for years and finally she gave in when her current one was having issues. Got it built just in time for the old one to die!

Nice. I got my new one a good few years back now... almost 4 *gasp* so it's extremely outdated. When I got it, it was one step down from as fast as you could buy... from standard sources anyway. I know you can super charge them through Alienware and places like that, but this was a good PC. My wife then decided to built her own (we are both techies, she more than me) and built a faster one. I've been meaning to upgrade for a long time but life, moving, buying a house, family weddings in England... it tends to suck up all the spare cash.
