Thanks for the link CCotD, but it really doesn't give too much insight into the reasons why GOMC-1 runs aces around Necro -system wise.

No, currently there are no vehicle rules for GOMC1... although something might appear in the Mongoose magazine Signs & Portents in the future.

As I mentioned on the other forum, I'm working on a number of articles for S&P... and vehicle rules (bikes only initially) are in the pipeline. The trouble is, it'll take me a while to get things written up, then I like to thoroughly test it out, then submit to S&P. Once they have it... it can take anything from a month to publish... to well over a year.

I'll let you know when I get some more stuff finished. If you check S&P31 Wargamer, the one off scenario vs. Judge Dredd was mine.

I know CCotD has also ordered "Death on the Streets" expansion book, but Blackhammer, if you haven't already, you might want to consider picking that up soon.

I just heard today that they are out of stock of this item in the Mongoose Publishing warehouse... and I haven't heard anything about a reprint.

The game is great, and I'll continue to support it myself, but Mongoose seems to be focusing too much of it's efforts on SST and ACTA, and letting great games like GOMC1 fall to the wayside.

I'll let you guys know if I hear anything else of interest...

It's not entirely Mongoose's fault that GOMC1 hasn't found massive success in the US. Granted, they haven't pushed it nearly hard enough, but Dredd has always struggled a bit. Typically, the American market misses the humor and whackiness side of things, and think of him more like a brooding cop with nothing to live for but the law, in a dark future.

Hopefully, the new films (if they ever get released) will add a new lease of life into the brand.

BTW, very glad to hear you are excited about getting your figures. Hopefully the distribution firms in the US, like Alliance, will still have stock on Death on the Streets. If not, I'd recommend tracking down a copy however you can. You can't play Apes, Undercity (werewolves, mutants and troggies) or Robot gangs without it... or have Judge Dredd join the fight... or even bring flame thrower type weapons into play...

I think flame throwers are second only to Apes with Guns (yes, the ones without tails), and only just ahead of Chainsaws.

When I played a demo of Rezolution, I had to give my CSO Engineer the flamethrower, and I toasted an APAC Yuurei quite nicely, while my Troopers blasted the Arashi (repeatedly) and my Marshall took on everyone else.

It was a blast, but the flame thrower was the best part I think.

I couldn't agree more about the Stallone movie and Demolition Man. They often get crossed over in my head.

I used to blame Stallone for the fact that he took his helmet off 5 minutes into the film and never put it on again, whereas Dredd has only had the back of his head, or a bandaged head showing a few times in almost 30 years. However, I heard that he actually wanted to keep the helmet on so he could stay in character... but it was the Hollywood fools that overrode him and thought they should sell Stallone, not Dredd. I have higher hopes for the new films as Rebellion is working directly with the filmmakers, which will hopefully iron out a lot of inconsistencies, etc.


As for humor, I think almost anything that Rowan Atkinson has ever done, has been superb. The only thing I didn't enjoy is when Hollywood tried to take a hillarious british comedy (Mr. Bean) and make it into a movie... only without the same humor...


I grew up watching Benny Hill, Kenny Everett, and yes, even Monty Python. Great stuff, though probably not what a kid should have been watching... lol.

If anyone playing GOMC1 is looking for extra flavor and ideas for scenarios, obviously the first port of call is the comics themselves, but beyond that, there is a fantastic free rpg resource by the infamous John Caliber. It's available through the official 2000AD website ().

Not only that though, but the Drokk City yahoo group has a really cool new feature. It's a choose your own adventure using a poll system so everyone gets to vote. Part 1 was posted on May 1, and Part 2 was just posted today.

Ressurecting an old thread here. Firstly, how do we go about trying to organize a gathering of Seattle based gamers to play GOMC1? I'm terrible at organizing.

Secondly, for anyone who has the game, or is thinking of getting it, you absolutely must have the expansion book called Death on the Streets. The expansion includes, among other things, rules for an Ape Gang, Robot Gang, Undercity Gang, Judge Dredd himself, etc. Unfortunately, the book has been out of print with Mongoose for a while and has been hard to locate. Well put your fears to rest as there is hope again!

Mongoose Publishing also manages a PDF site called WargamingOnline.com and they added the book as a PDF for under $6. I think it was $8 in print, and is a steal!
