OK, well, it's fashionable to flame D&D, like it's fashionable to say you prefer Harold Lloyd to Charlie Chaplin, but I for one like the simplicity of 3.x D&D. It's a lot of fun, just to dip in for a couple of hours without navel gazing.

However, my roleplay game of choice when the emphasis is on the 'role', is the most excellent Exalted by the ubiquitous White Wolf. I also love their less well known "Aberrant" for a modern day super hero's game. In short, storyteller rocks, and the later versions are much better, with standard diffs and so on.

I haven't seen much flaming of D&D here. There is a vocal Savage Worlds community, but I don't think to much active hate of D20. PArt of that may simply be that 3.X is much more coherent than 2nd ed. was. I complained about a rules lawyer problem, but they occur regardless of syestem.

The games I am currently running are with OGL Steampunk, which uses D20 Modern as a base. Before that I used D&D 3.0 and 3.5 both. (Iron Kingdoms... Anyone shocked? )

heyyyyyy now Count. Shadowrun wasnt THAT bad. The game system was a little buggy, but I do like the setting and story itself. I like d20 Modern and adapted shadowrun to fit the d20 rules, and it works soooo much better now. Now one system I love to play but hate to make a game *or a new char* for is Palladium. You almost have to be a math wiz to keep track of all the percentiles, skills, races, etc. that you have to work with. Takes me around 2 hours just to make a human fighter for that game! lol

Robotech anyone? Im doing a conversion for d20 modern and 20 future.
