For a, umm, wee bit of a while now (six months to a year, give or take) I have been working haphazardly on a setting that a friend of mine wants to play in. (Let us just say that she has a poster of 'Gathering of the Gargoyles' on the wall....)

There is no way that I can match her Gargoyles knowledge (nor do I really desire to), so, I have been working on a steampunkish Gargoylesque setting. Central to the campaign concept are the gargoyles - not Disney's critters, but spirits of the deceased inhabiting grotesques from a church.

A quck overview of the setting and starting scenario is As you can see Cathedrae Noctis/Requiem is starring in a central role, assuming that I can build up the energy to build it again.

I am considering building both the Cathedral and its immediate environs an area of the city Blythe (called Blight) named Grantmercy Park. The center of the neighborhood is the Cathedral, with a cemetery on one side, and Grant Mercy Park on the other. (Grant Mercy is the park, Grantmercy is the area.... )

Details that I know I want are the Cathedral, a cemetery (Wildwood?), and the park (Hinterland), canals (Sewers from Gothic Realms), sewers (ditto), a semi-abandoned rail station (Harbormaster), and some streets, etc. (please gods, Streets of Himmelveil, please?).

Material, both free and otherwise, from other companies than World Works will be needed as well, for variety if nothing else. Some will function as stand ins until WWG comes out with them.

Any ideas on what I might need/want in terms of stuff that can be built with WWG products? The series of waterwheels from DF are likely to be in the neighborhood? Also not appearing in this area of the city is the Bicycle Railway.

At this point the most sorely missed portion of the neighborhood would be flats of the buildings - lower class tenements circa the early to mid 1800s.

Waffling between the Year of the Eights and the Year of the Comet as the precise time period for the game. The Year of the Comet (1835) is when Magic started returning to the world (having diminished rapidly around 1660 or so). The Year of the Eights on the other hand is perhaps best known for Jack the Ripper. I lean toward 1835 for these scenarios - by 1888 enough fantastic creatures have returned that Gargoyles would be met with little more than a raised eyebrow.

I seem to remember Greasius working on cobblestone roads a while back - were these ever released as kitbashes?
