Well for similar to Evernight is in tone...the Heroes in a world taken by the bad ones...I think (for what I've seen) that the setting is more rich than the Evenight (who is only a campaign with a stroke of a setting...wich is good for me because I could trown whatever I want in it because no single square is "maped") ... If two of you point to scarred lands I'll make a think about it and begin to buy the suplements...but one last question...There is some kind of metaplot in it... I kind of like the Evernight - Dealands - Earthdawn (other one that I was thinking of playing...I was thinking of make it the continuation of Evernight...ending with the players in Kaerns runing away from the spiders and awaking, not them the new players...hundreds of year latter..but only an idea) settings for the metaplot involved in them...not only play adventure after adventure to gain px...
I've will try to take a look at the shop (as you say in the page is only Sword and Sorcery...they are not appart for the setting so I've put generic things) Sound of mind is Scarred ?? maybe is one of my translations "out of reason " "minds that kill" or "mental passages" they are translations of the spanish name not the original name...
Well will look more at it...in adventures there's one campaing or a very good one - to try it...not only settings books...

Ok...I'll try to find Hollowfaust and Mithril to add to the one I have...and take them a look...but for the 7$ price of the real book I think I'll make an effort and go buying them (I know the ones at the shop so I'll make a reservation and go buying after slow, and maybe once I know the ones that can be bought you could tell wich ones I could let pass)

In the metaplot question. There is some or is simple a setting and loose adventures ? and the Ghelspa and Gazetter are the setting books no? ... they are setting nearly no rule (so I can't have a look at it)..I'll try to see if they are translates and in the offer ... but I don't remember that covers...

Oh, there is their metaplot, then there is my metaplot.


Their metaplot (apart from the 3-4 books they published, which I haven't read) basically consists of where the world is at right now: the lands' struggle to heal it self, the Gods and their followers struggle to maintain dominance in the world, the Titans' followers attempts to revive them, Virduk and Calastia's expansion, etc. There are some suggested plotlines, but nothing of the scale of say, sa PegInc plot point setting. There is a lot of room, though, and a lot of avenues you could go down and develop in pretty much whatever kind of direction you wanted to.

There is a series of modules (the Amphora modules) specifically for the Scarred Lands, and I would call them fair to good. With a little additional fleshing out, you could make them a good centerpoint to a campaign. With a lot of fleshing and expanding, you could make it the point of the whole campaign.


For my game, I'm planning on taking a lot of "what is known" (ie, what is published) and flipping it on its ear. Of course, the players won't know that initially, or perhaps ever.



Edit: The Ghelspad Campaign Setting and Ghelspad Gazeteer are the primary setting books. There is also a Termana book and gazeteer; it is another continent (south of Ghelspad, within sailing distance) and is not necessary - but the Termana guide has some really interesting ideas in it.

Easy to Savage? Easier than most settings. Here's what you have to do:

Well, thats not entirely true. There is a little to Savage, but really just not all that much. I'm going to create different Powers lists for the priests (AB: Miracles) of the different Gods. I think I'm going to use some of the Shaintar Magic ABs to maintain the division between Sorcerers & Wizards, Clerics & Druids (since it is such an integral part of the world), but I won't use a D20 template for the differences (ie, how spells are memorized/cast), I'll figure something else out instead.

In addition, I'll probably create some background and/or professional edges for various groups and to add a little flavor - the Paladins of Corean and Calastian Battle Mages come immediately to mind, as well as the Vigilants of Vesh. And of course, there are monsters-a-plenty to Savage, but those are incredibly easy to do.



Oh, and in addition to any pure Scarred Lands material, if you don't have the Shaintar Player's Guide or the SW Fantasy Worldbuilder's Toolkit, I would definitely recommend those for a good savaging of the Scarred Lands. I think I'm going to use Wiggy's example of Rune Magic, for example, for the Albadians.

Hmmm, I don't know if you can place an international order to White Wolf's , but right now the are offloading a lot of Scarred Lands material for half price or less - the Campaign Setting hardcover for an example is $9.98. Postage may kill you, but it might be worth a look.

I also rather like the Scarred Lands, a fairly grim setting wuth a vibrant history. Most of the books are very good. In particular:
