Interesting. I have not ever played a game of 40k, but watched the video and read the article. Thanks for sharing.

Ive never played W40k either (although I did buy the book back in 1987!) but I've just joined a gaming group last week so hopefully I'll get to play sometime.

I think it comes down to two main things: time to paint and not liking to game at gaming stores. I could paint, but then I would not be building terrain and I could game at my FLGS, but then my wife would not be joining me. I will stick to Eberron for now.

Either way, I always like to see additional exposure for any part of the table-top gaming hobby. New blood in gaming is a good thing.

I like 40k but in my opinion, not all of the armies are balanced. But I don't buy/build an army because of its Codex, I buy an army because I think it's cool!

40K is not balanced. I play my armies because I like them...I usually lose. I haven't played in a while, and have only played at a retail store twice. Most of my 40K experiences have been at my home of friends homes. And 40K is what brought me to WWG anyway....

The best part of that is Rick Priestley's comment:

"Now you'd think after all these years the beeb would dig out the chap who invented the game wouldn't you! Ah well... nice to see Warhammer 40K is still round and obviously retains its ability to enthrall, challange and entertain after 25 years. I only wish I could say the same:)"

What I loved about early incarnations of the game was how it fired the imagination. It encouraged kit-bashing and narrative to tell a story on the tabletop. Over the years a lot of that has disappeared, IMO. The game is still enjoyable but it doesn't kindle any sense of wonder in me anymore.
I still crack open my Rogue Trader book occasionally and it still inspires.
