Finished Six Degrees by Mark Lynas a couple of days ago and am still adjusting to it.

Or more accurately, I'm still adjusting to reality of Global Warming. Wish I'd read this four years ago when it first came out, but at least I've read it now.

The book is about global warming all right - but its not yet another argument for one or other side of the science. Instead, it is a very lucid summary of literally hundreds of peer reviewed scientific papers covering what the current and forecast levels of atmospheric CO2 mean, in reality.

It covers paleontological research into what conditions were like on earth in the past (when CO2 levels and the corresponding average global temperatures matched those forecast for this century), and the results of the most credible climate simulations.

Interestingly, it is not the simulated forecasts that are most compelling, it is the paleontological evidence - Put simply, we really don't want to end up like that! (And it's only because our planet takes a while to warm up that things are as good as they are right now!)

This one book has cut through all the debates over the science of global warming and gone straight to what our CO2 levels and emissions mean in reality.

Forget all the arguments. Just read this book to realise what our current and forecast CO2 levels actually mean for us and our children.
