I'm new to Terraclips - just picked up a set of Vaults of Ruin and got to unboxing it today. Really impressed and I can easily see myself picking up more of these! I had a couple questions though. The first deals with the wall pieces. There's a notch or two at the top of each of them. Not a wide notch to fit in a clip but a narrow one as if another piece were to fit in there at a 90 degree angle. I didn't see anything that looked like it should go in there so I'm puzzled. Column tops maybe so you could support a bridge going across? Pieces from other sets? The second question is about the spiral staircase. I'm not entirely sure I put this thing together correctly but it seems stable. I couldn't find many pics online to see if I'd followed the Ikea-ish instructions correctly. Here are 2 shots, unfortunately kind of blurry: The other problem is with the last piece, labeled as piece 10 on the sheet. I'm not sure which way up it should go (I'm 90% sure I have it in the right place). I think this is wrong and it should be the other way up, yes? Thanks! Chris |

10 is there to add support to the underside of the last stair, it doesn't look quite right in your picture. The spiral staircase is a great, great design. |

Aaah, the mistery of the top notches. Take a look at this picture: If you look at the doorway, you can see that there are + shaped pieces that slide into the top notches. You can slide wall toppers in there (like Denny did here), but you can also slide some of the big walls in there, to make higher walls without the need for floors in between there. As for the spiral staircase, I do have the feeling that the bottom part is placed with the wrong way up, but it is difficult to see from the pictures. |

Kinda bummed on the top notches, I figured I'd be able to use them to add walls to each other, not just decorations. But the connectors aren't designed for that. |

They are. If you look at the double-height walls, you will see that there are notches in the bottom there as well. You can use the connectors in this way to connect 2 walls to make really high buildings, without the need for floors or clips in between. We didn‘t include these in the 2" high walls, because you can just use a 4" high wall anyway. |

Sorry, should have been more specific, you can't add floors on top of walls that have connectors. There are times when I want the 4 inch walls, but also a floor between them, but not needing to attach the floor to the upper wall (for moving things around, on and off the table). |

Ah, I see. No, you can’t do that, sorry. The entire system is designed with a layered approach in mind. (or like they say in software land: it’s a feature, not a bug). With any system there will always be some specific situations where you can’t do something you had in mind, although I am pretty sure there must be a way to work around the problem you are having. Maybe not exactly like you thought, but Terraclips is pretty flexible that way. If you can give me a specific lay-out, I might try and find a work-around if you want me to. |

I found myself wanting notches on the 2 inch walls pretty frequently especially when I wanted a standard sized door in a room with 4 inch walls (ie one wall stacked 2 inch walls). But then again I also ran into issues when needing to line up 3 inch wall notches with the 6 inch wall notches. Great set still, but it is the everything can fit together nature of terraclips that make them so awesome, so it did seem a little odd that everything wasn't universal. The toppers are a great addition, makes me want to convert the previous sets to be compatible. |

Definitely need to flip the no. 10 piece to give it support. |
