Post subject: | First draft for my Trifold zombie board (long, pic-heavy) |
Sometime in the future I'm going to start playing some All Things Zombie, hopefully running a campaign from Day One all the way up until it turns into a post-apocalyptic survivor game. We're going to be playing in 15mm, and I'm starting to work up some of the terrain and get some ideas going. I bought Streets of Legend last night as well as the TLX planner, and have put this together. Going to be building a "permanent" base on the backside of an elmer's tri-fold display board (total dimensions 46 x 35.5 inch). In 15mm that is a pretty decent amount of territory, and playing on the back gives us several options for using the permanent ground tiles. This is my first rough draft. First, the three "tiles" -- the center of the board, and the left / right side pieces: Center Left Side Right Side And all together: I think this is a decent basis for a small little "highway town", grown up around the crossroads of some country highway. Can play with any of the sides folded back or not, giving some different layouts. On the center board, the big asphalt section to near the bottom will house a gas station, with lots of space to accommodate large semis. The rest of the area around the highway will have some restaurants, touristy attractions, etc, and then houses further back from the highway. Another configuration also be using a standalone board that will butt up against the right side (with the left side closed) that will have some more "country-ish" dirt roads and more housing. Finally, opening up both sides and converting the left side into a large divided interstate, we get a different feel from the board: Now this can be a large city right at the offramp of a highway, with a major road nearby, or it can be a similar town as above but with the interstate coming through. Larger buildings of all sort can work in this configuration (office buildings, a "downtown" area, etc). Also, for a different feel, making up a "ruined" interstate, missing several pieces of the elevated road and filled with burned out cars will be a lot of fun! I'm still tinkering with the designs, but I'll probably start cranking out the ground tiles this weekend. Since I'm not doing the TLX and just pasting on, it shouldn't take too long, at least that is the plan! Always welcome to hear suggestions! |

That is a nice layout concept, although not sure about the culdesac's. How are you getting on with the build? |
