hi, firstly i have to say so far i'm very impressed with the TerrainLinx system, however, of all the sets i'm disappointed with Canals. There seems to be several issues with the selection of tiles available in Canals, see some of the pics below. In the first two images you can see how i'm struggling to come up with a way of using some of the special pieces so they match in, you always seem to end up with an offset (in this case one grid) that will be difficult to handle. In this pic you can see i'm having issues working out how to integrate harbour with canal. I may be missing something but the Canal/Harbour set seems to be missing some stuff and isnt as flexible as the sewers one ? Also the terrain planner for canals doesnt seem 100% accurate, for example Canals Corner 6 inch shows as Harbour Corner 6 inch in the manifest. |

Sorry for the delayed answer here. Been busy... ![]() Short answer is that you're using the tiles in a way they aren't intended to be used. Tiles are based on modular 6"X6", 3"X6" & 3"X3" increments. So when you offset anything off of that standard interval you throw the whole grid off. In fact, you couldn't even link them together using the standard TerrainlinX tab system using your examples. Here's solutions to your above concerns using required layout methodology; |

Well, there's room for a booster for those very specific tiles. Unless you're "speedmounting" on one large board however you can't do the offsets you want and still have TerrainlinX function as it does. |

Decided to go with something a little simpler for my first attempt while i learn the cutting techniques etc. This is the 3x3 board i'm planning for Malifaux (28mm skimish game). tempted to try speed mounting into 1ft x 1ft blocks (i.e. 2x2 linx blocks) but not sure how precise i'll be able to make it, might just be quicker going with normal blocks that i can reuse later. Some "drop on" bridge tiles would be nice for a booster as well ![]() |

That layout looks really promising. Speed mounting definitly has its benefits if you want to work up a table relatively quickly. The only obvious downside is that your layout is locked in that way forever. Good choice for a core game system by the way ![]() |
