the linx system is built around 3" sections so the tile sizes work for both clix (1.5") and 1" bases. Now as sold the system doesn't offer 2" walls. But you can absolutely make your own by cutting down a 3" wall, just be sure to cut out a wall arm from the scrap area. Then you can simply float the posts on the tile top if there are no anchors in that spot. So long as you connect them to anchored post at some point they should hold in place well enough. I've done that in some of my layouts when necessary.

The system was designed modular, and thus can also be expanded. It's not that difficult to make a 1 square wide hall design using a 3" wide section as a base.

As mentioned, though the system is designed for 1" & 1.5" compatibility (forcing things into the 3"X3", 3"X6" & 6"X6" variants), we fully intend on releasing 1" boosters to allow for maximum flexibility in that build mode.

WizKidz seems to have killed Mage Knight pretty effectively before going bye bye themselves. Most of the 1.5 inch crowd has thinned away now.

Though it does look like HeroClix is being brought back under license.

Would definitely like to see some 2" hallway bits in any other dungeon-ey sets. Most D&D modules I have seen use them.

Also note that a lot of wargames use 30mm bases now, which is slightly larger than 1". Probably won't be an issue, but I've had problems with premade terrain not factoring that in and me not being able to use it with games like Warmachine.

Basically its just an issue of including a single 1.5" wall segment. No biggy

I use both. I have so much Chunky Dungeon stuff built that to not use the 1.5" scale would be criminal. OTO the 1" scale is compatable with other tile and built products I have so I use that too. I wouldn't have a problem with minor segments having only compatable with the 1" and others only compatable with 1.5" IE 2" walls and a tile designed to use them for the 1" scalers and a 1.5" wall and a tile designed to use them for the 1.5"ers. I am OK with the good old college try with trying to get exact compatability with both scales. I might grumble a little bit but not too much.

With 1.5" grid tiles, in principle all I have to do is offset every other row 0.75" and I've got a decent facsimile of a hexgrid:



Here's the mess you get when you try this with a 1"-grid floor piece (because you still need to end up with 1.5" squares offset 0.75"). In this case I had to superimpose a new, artificial grid overlay or you'd never be able to tell where the legal game spaces were.

Why can't you just use the same offset square grid in 1"? Roleplayers have been using those for years.

Because the figures won't really fit on a 1" square grid — especially the double-base figures.

Trust me, if it was that easy I would have noticed.

I agree the Heroscape figures won't fit on a 1 inch grid, but double base figures are designed to be in two hexs anyway, so why not just use the 1.5 inch grid. They should fit within that fine.

I agree, simply overlaying a hex grid on a square shaped, 7" X 7" is an issue and a half. I have been trying for the past several weeks, with minimal success. I wanted to make a layout for my ATZ gaming group and I would prefer to use hex grid, but it is become increasingly difficult to overlay the hex grid. I think I got it and will post pics as soon as I get home. I am doing a WildWood Grove build that resembles the local cemetary here in town with a hex overlay.
