I purchased the Thoumonts TLX Edition a really long time ago and I finally have a Pathfinder Project coming up later this year that I want to use it for. A quick glance shows me that pretty much all the floor and wall bits are divisible by 3? So a floor is 3x3, 3x6 or 6x6. Walls come in only 3" or 6" lengths. My question/problem is what if I have a 10x10 room? I'm going to be thrust into modding with this tile set correct? Now granted a floor wouldn't be too bad to make work, but the walls (with their end connectors) looks like that could be a nightmare to adjust. Am I understanding it right? If I want it to be easy then I have to design everything to a value of 3? |

Well... You have a couple options. For starters, if you own Thoumont's, then you can get the free . Log into the storefront, then from the "My Home" screen, click "My Kitbashes" which should get you to all the kitbashes you can use. Now, that's not a GREAT solution if you're hoping to have a 2nd floor, or if you really mind having the floor tile extend beyond the wall, right? When I work on making layouts, I often will muck with the map so that the building structure is an increment of 3". Same thing, if I'm looking to support a floor above. For interiors, you can use short walls with un-anchored posts to make closets and hallways and what-not. At least, that's how I'd attack the problem. Have a look at the kitbash and see if that works for you. |

other options are to print the floors out with the 1.5" grid, which will give you 2x2 squares, 2x4 hallsways and 4x4 hallways. This is more along the lines of 'traditional dungeon design' with 10' corridors and rooms. |

Oooo good info. Let me check it out. It didn't dawn on my to think 1.5" for different sizes, but I too am very rooted in 1" brain functionality. I'm ultimately not against re-designing my maps to fit a factor of 3 world if it makes it easier. I was just ultimately curious if there was something I was missing. I'm going to read that link! |

There are some cases where you want narrower profiles on purpose - a passage to squeeze through, limited people in a room, etc. it's pretty easy to make standalone posts (I think someone did a thread on them) so that you can setup posts/walls that aren't anchored down. Mainly you just need to put a small flat base under a post. You can use a non-gridded tile to provide material for a bunch of those. |
