I've been building alot over the holidays and I noticed that all the floors from the robocutter have an edge that sticks up. It got me wondering if I'm building the floors wrong. Am I supposed to print a template for each floor tile, glue it to the foam board, cut out the notches, and then glue the floor over that? I've been using a single template and a sharpie to mark the notches. I then cut the notches and glue the floor piece directly to the tile. SB |

Thanks for replying... It's probably the 3/16 Elmer's Foam Board more than the missing template. I think adding a cardstock template may help to lessen things. SB |

Looking at that video, If you are putting the floor tile directly on the foamboard, the bits that get cut out would be very snug in the sockets. Adding the template, even on plain copy paper, would give just a hair breathing room between the cut out bits and the floor tile. That would definitely make for a smoother floor. |

Although not shown on the video, I do glue a plain copy template on the foamcore. I explain that's why I use plain copy paper and print very draft templates as no one is going to see them as they'll be sandwiched between the foamcore and the cardstock. ![]() |
