Hey all! I won't say I'm new to the site, but I'm new to the hobby of papercrafting. I made it a resolution to actually put together some of the stuff I bought a while back. ![]() So, I apologize in advance if this seems overly ignorant, but- I realize TerrainlinX's "thing" is modularity; that said, can older Gaming Terrain products found in the vault (say, like the Mayhem Megamall) be made to work with TerrainLinX products? Or is the way TerrainLinx products 'connect' just too different? Or am I overthinking this? ![]() Also, do all TerrainLinx products (regardless of genre) fit together the same way? |

Thanks CapnG! I suppose I'll use the vault items as 'set pieces' as they come up. |

Terrainlinx is great for the modularity, and is superb for RPG style gaming because the sets change with each encounter. As a tabletop player I lean more towards the non-TL because I require more permanent builds for 40k. I do think TL is better for Malifaux though, as the layouts of a Malifaux table are much smaller and lend themselves to more modularity. |

I still use my older pieces on occasion as set pieces. I either put them next to the rest of my build, or directly on top. Some pieces work better than others (The Maiden for instance), but overall I do use TLX and TCPs primarily. |

if you think about it...anything works with anything. While the older non-TLX stuff won't connect with TLX stuff, that isn't saying you can't use the MegaMall with Streets of Mayhem. Lay out your streets and slap your mall down on top of it. Then build a TLX armory and set it down next to the mall...and some swift scenics... |

Thanks for all the input folks! Actually, just remembered a related question- since all the TerrainLinx stuff is meant to work together, do all the Gaming Terrain sets work with each other? I mean, it stands to reason that First Light and FL: Retrofit, and the different Mayhem sets, would scale/fit together, right? This is all assuming that Gaming Terrain has any kind of 'connection' system that gets sets from different lines (First Light) to line up; it may well not. Like I said, kinda new. ![]() |

IIRC the scale is similar among the sets. The size of tiles and height or walls were different prior to TLX than what they are now. All TLX will fit together nicely. The older sets are of similar scale, but have 7"x7" tiles instead of 6"x6" (the TLX and TCPs standard). |

...and with a little bit of kitbashing, you can take the floors from the old sets and map them into the TLX tiles. And the old walls onto the TLX walls... |
