For Streets, I'd like to see tiles that have curb on one side of the tile, for making larger/wider streets. Right now, I'm planning on trying to do the Battle of Brindol encounters from the Red Hand of Doom module. There's a scene where the party has to man a barricade across a main street of the city to block the rampaging invading army. The tiles with a street down the middle are fine for the side streets, but for the main street, I'm using one of the "Town Square" (all street) tiles. I realized, however, there's no tile for making a nice transition from the street to the sidewalk. It seems like an easy enough kind of tile to make, take the "T intersection" tile or the "corner" tile and eliminate the little corners of curb. They would merge perfectly with the "townsquare_street" tile. |

how about a 3d fountain with flowing water ... and options for like green acid or fire... or a fountain support,or a wall with an attached fountain coming off of it. Aqueducts. Ruined walls, oh yes i could really use them. and more shinny polished White Marble parts. |

Denny, if I have come across as complaining about missing things in the Streets I apologize. I am not complaining, just enthusiastic (maybe even overenthusiastic) and seeing possibilities. Actually I haven't had so much fun building anything for many years as I have building HIM Streets at the moment. And that includes Wormhole. And I can't stop building more either, I am already building an extension for my small layout and am planning a second level for part of it. The sad part is that Sewers is put on the backburner even if I have printed a few pages of it. You asked for ideas and I try to supply them. So I am really looking forward to the release of Canals which I will buy as soon as it is released. |

Have you guys explored the idea of using layered PDFs? I've seen someone else using them and it's great. With a layered PDF you could have the basic wall or tile piece and then layers for lamps.. horsedropings.. skeletons... doorways.. windows.. whatever. That way we could customize the piece before printing. I've built a decent sized "streets" set and started work on the sewers, when I notice almost every 6 by 6 floor tile has a skeleton laying on it. While this might fit maybe people's sets, it was a little excessive for my tastes. Great product but would have been nice to be able to pick and choose when tiles will get it instead of all. I've purchased a lot of 2d and 3d minitures products over the last few months trying to find just the perfect one. Streets and sewers (and anything upcoming I'm sure) has won in my book hands down. I just think having those layered pdf would make it that much better. |

Oh a second thing. I choose to only use the non-warp walls. I have yet to build anything that doesn't atleast have a roof over it and I like the over all look. They feel more solid as well. The problem is that I have now recieved a regular wall every time I've printed the non-warp ones. I'm just curious why these havn't been placed on seperate pages. I'm already wasting the paper, I'd rather not waste the ink as well when printing all these extra wall. On a side note, this could also be an option with the layered PDFs I suggested in the last post. Choose which type of wall you wish and it will change the PDF to match. Thanks. |

I don't use GIMP as I don't like the user interface. I normally use Paint Shop Pro. But I tested the following with two freeware solutions: You would need and . And Adobe Acrobat Reader, of course. Maybe you should make a backup copy of the pdf file(s) you want to use. Please notice that I use German laguage versions of the programs, so some of the terms I use might not be named correctly. Open the appropriate pdf file (I tested this with citywall1_6inch.PDF). Click once into the window so the complete page is highlighted blue. Use "edit" - "copy" (or just CTRL + C) - do NOT use the snapshot function. Now open Paint.net. Use "edit" - "paste in as new image". Now change/edit/etc. whatever you want. When you are ready, save the image as JPEG or PNG. In my example I saved it as citywall1_6inch_test.jpg. I've got an image which is 2550 x 3300 pixels big. Now open OpenOffice.org-Draw (this is the graphic program that comes with OpenOffice.org). Open the original pdf file (in my example citywall1_6inch.PDF). DO NOT SAVE ANYTHING as you would overwrite your original file! Delete the original image. Use "format" - "page" to change ALL page margins to 0,00 cm (inches). Now use "insert" - "image" - "from file" and insert the image you've made (in my example citywall1_6inch_test.jpg). Make sure the image margins correspond with the page margins. Again: DO NOT SAVE! Instead use "file" - "export as pdf". I didn't make any adjustments on the following window, but you might want to play around with it. Hit the "Export" button and name the new pdf (in my example citywall1_test.PDF). Now you should have a pdf file that you can print exactly like an original WWG file without caring about dpi settings etc. /Edit: The creating of the image will also work in Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Photoshop, or the GIMP (I looked at it) so you don't need Paint.net if you don't like it. A hard one, and one that breaks some of the design conventions - diagonal streets. I suspect that two tiles would be required for each section, and given the nature of Himmelveil and TLX I am not certain that they can be done at all. The Auld Grump |
