I do have two extra new blades to try. Before that I plan on trying the original carrier sheet. I also was wondering what the purpose of the carrier sheet is? Why is it needed? I may experiment trying no carrier sheet. |

Yes heed Mel's warning!!! No carrier sheet = death to your cutting strip! . The carrier holds all of your cut model bits down so that they don't jam up the cutting head/rollers while other parts are being cut. I had an issue with my carrier slipping out of position and exposing the cutting strip while still in an active cut mode. This left a cut in the strip itself. Everything still works mind you but I think cut depth efficiency is down a little bit because of it. |

Thanks for the warning. I won't try removing the carrier sheet. I wonder why there's a option setting for no carrier sheet? I'll try one of my new blades. Can a blade die after only 6 pages?? |

The "no carrier sheet" option is for paper types designed for use with the craft robo (or other craft cutters). For instance, you can buy self-adhesive paper that comes pre-stuck to what amounts to a disposable carrier sheet. That option causes it to cut slightly less deep, so as to not completely destroy the thinner carrier sheet material. |

morganm, I believe you may have come up with a solution for me. Yesterday I tried various configurations and options such as reseeding the blade cartridge, using the original carrier sheet, and trying the red cap with the largest Thickness setting. I noticed a few things that make me believe it's my paper that's the problem. First, the cap and blade area were riddled with micro paper shards of debris. Second, I could barely cut through the paper with a brand new, and VERY sharp, EXACTO blade. The paper would tear and shred instead of cutting. Can anyone suggest some good cover/card stock that can be purchased at a major chain? Please supply the "model" number and anything else to identify it. I live near almost every chain you can imagine: Walmart, Sears, Office Depot, Office Max, Michaels, HobbyLobby, Target, BJs, Sams club, Walgreens, Aldi, etc.. I'm almost certain the paper I'm using (listed in the first post) is too tough/rigid. |

I've used Georgia Pacific 110lb from Wal-Mart and Wausau "Extra-Heavyweight Exact Index Card Stock" 110lb from Office Depot. Both of which work fine with my robo cutter. I use the suggested settings from Mel's guide for GP 110lb on both types. http://www.gp.com/papers/gpcardstock.html http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/4 ... ndex-Card/ I know it will wear out my blade a little faster but I love the sturdyness. I also adjusted my perforation pattern to .07 / .04 so that it folds MUCH nicer. I've cut through over 200 pages and the blade is OK. I do find on some things I run it through twice but thats mostly things with intricate pieces that need to be cut out (like prison bars from Castles & Keeps or the bridges in Hinterlands). That's my 2 cents on paper =) Plenty of other opinions to choose from =^.^= |

I finally have a update and a solution to this problem. Whoever mentioned that it may be my paper was correct. I've been using the Georgia Pacific Card Stock 110 lb from Walmart lately and haven't had the issues I had with the International Paper, Accent Opaque Digital paper. I suspect it was the "Long Grain" quality that was making the paper difficult to cut in the Rob and by hand. The paper did feel woven. Thanks all! |
