Has anyone else run into problems with the relatively new Silhouette Studio 3.0? I hadn't touched it in several months (not since we created the cutfiles for the Maiden back in Sept, sadly), but I've had nothing but problems with it today. They changed around the interface so much, I can't find some settings and options that used to be there. I can't find any Calibration option. And I don't see any way to set the cutting depth or options like "Double Cut." The biggest problem was my cuts were getting waaaay off and inconsistent. I modified the basic template for large TLX floor tiles, but nothing was working out properly. I finally uninstalled it and installed the old 2.9 version (thankfully, I had kept a copy!). Then I realized that the template I created was saved in the new version format. So, I had to re-upgrade it, down save the file to the old format, uninstall SS, reinstall the 2.9 SS. I was still getting wild results. As soon as I tried the original template from WWG, though, it cut perfectly. So, I had to throw away my custom template and create a new one and that's worked like a dream with the old 2.9 version of SS. Just wondering if anyone else has had problems since upgrading to the new version. This is assuming anyone actually still checks for new posts on here. (not sure what other forums for papercraft are the place to hang out and keep up to date now) |

To set the double cut setting, go to cut settings and click on "Cardstock". That will expose settings for "Cardstock". I make it a habit to check these settings EVERY TIME I cut something. I usually single-cut the score lines then double-cut the cut lines. I'm weird that way. My cuts haven't been off. I've used both an SD and a Cameo with the new software. I *have* had issues with the cutter not cutting all the way to the available edge of the cutting area. I *think* I've had luck creating new cutfiles in the latest studio software rather than using older files. I have no idea whether that's really the case or not. There's a good thread on the Fat Dragon forums about the latest cutting software. One thing that came up was deleting some files left behind by older installations. I think it helped me as well, though I'm not at the computer I use the cutter on, so I don't recall the directories to remove. I think I went to my APPDATA directory and deleted all of the folders that appeared Silhouette-related. In terms of hang-outs... I check this forum daily, still, but also the cardboard-warriors forum and the Fat Dragon forums, though I don't participate nearly as much in the latter. |
