Hi Guys, I did a quick search, but nothing showed up in the first couple pages, so I figured I'd simply ask. I bought a Silhouette SD off eBay a month ago, and after fighting with the thing, I've finally got it figured out how to cut all the fiddly things that have been slowing me down, mainly Tabs, Posts, and Ground Tiles. However, I've been having a few issues: - Posts: I'm using the Titan sets, and I simply can't get it to cut some of the posts. The 4 way post, the 4's and 5's are the ones I'm currently having the most issues with. When I insert the sheet, it cuts upside down. I'm feeding the sheet in bottom first. I tried top first, and it wouldn't find the Reg Marks, no matter what I did. So I feel pretty confident I'm feeding it in right. Has anyone has these issues? - Floor Tiles - This isn't so much an issue as an annoyance. It seems each type of tile needs to be aligned on the sheet in a special configuration, or it cuts off by X distance. Is this simply a calibration issue? If I move the sheet around, it'll correct itself. So it's not stopping me, but I lose a sheet or two when I start cutting a new type of floor tile. Thanks guys, you guys are the best. ~J |

Wow. I'm not having any of those issues with my SD. And mine was used off of eBay, too. (I don't have that set, though, so can't say I've tried it) For the issue with the posts, have you tried using the .GSD cut file from a different WWG set, just in case it's a problem with the file? For that matter, when you open the file in Silhouette Studio, it should show you the cut lines and have an arrow at the bottom indicating that end should get fed in first. Do the lines look correct in SS when you open that GSD? If not, then that would seem to indicate the file is the issue. I think WWG just reuses the same GSD files, so I doubt that set would be different than the others. For the floor tiles, as long as I'm centering the page (not necessarily your carrier sheet!) between the rollers, I don't seem to have issues. And it's really important to make sure the page didn't somehow print a little crooked or get attached to the carrier sheet a little crooked. Are you double checking that your pages are printing to scale? I would suggest measuring a few (both directions!) to ensure that the tile top is 6"x6" or 3"x3" or whatever size it is. |

Post problem: The posts aren't cutting crooked, so I'm not so worried about that. They are simply cutting backward. An example, the "tab" that gets glued to the interior side of the post is being cut off, and it is creating one on the other side. Eventually it goes completely off the page and the cutter can't handle it because it has kicked out the carrier sheet. I did try some of the posts from some of the other sets, Thoumonts, Sigma 6, and something I can't remember. I know one of them worked. It's really odd. Some of the GSD's load, but don't show the arrow, some of them do. Now that I'm thinking of it, I think some of the files were opening in Craft Robo, not Silhouette Studio. Maybe I'll have better luck with SS. I'll give that a shot, that may fix it. I'm not quite ready for posts, so I only printed out 1 set of posts from the Base Titan set. I am not using Control or Streets, at least not yet. Floor Tile Problem: This is another issue that isn't caused by crooked loading. So, I printed out 9 of the 3x6 floor tiles. I loaded the first up, and put it lined up exactly with the bottom of the arrow that shows which end to slide the carrier sheet in. When I do this, the cutter cuts .5 inch too close to the bottom of the cardstock page. So I moved it up, so it was lined up exactly with the bottom of the triangle portion of the arrow. This allows it to print on the spot. So I line up the sheet with the 3x3's. These print .5 inches too close to the top of the card stock page. So I move these back down to the bottom of the arrow, and they print perfectly. What really bakes my noodle is why it reads the auto marks if it isn't using them to figure out where to cut. Why does it need to be on a specific spot on the carrier sheet? ~J |

That is odd. Are you sure that the pages were feeding in properly? I know on mine, sometimes I'll hit the Load Media button and have the page positioned correctly, but the rollers don't quite grip the page properly. It still feeds in, but is off by a bit. When this happens, though, the registration marks aren't even being found. That doesn't really sound like your issue, but I'm not sure what it could be--aside from possible problems with the GSD. If you're using CraftRobo, though, that might be part of your issue. Make sure you download the latest version of Silhouette Studio: http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/software |

Using Silhouette Studio seems to have fixed the issue. I cut 2 full runs (12 pages) of post sheets and they all worked out perfectly (except the one I messed up, forgot to re-aquire the reg marks when I loaded a new page). No word yet on the floor tiles. I have a ton of posts, anchors and walls to cut, glue and assemble. If I can keep up the current rate, I may have pictures by Friday night. Thanks for all your help guys. ~J |
