By the way, most of the other pages seem fine - it's only the front page that seems to suffer from a serious font problem. In particular, the font size used on the Tutorials and FAQ/Contact pages (<font size="2">) is quite legible, and everything rescales nicely when resizing the font.

Robby might have to look at that issue for compatibility. I can't emulate the behaviour on any of the 4 machines available to me out here. The menu font size is perfectly legible on this side. I'll take a screen cap so you can see what it's suppose to look like. We'll look into it.

Here's a couple screen caps for you. At default font sizes you should be seeing things displayed as follows (in Firefox):

Like I said we'll dig a little deeper on this end but I'm having problems emulating the behavior you're describing (and showing). Anyone else out there having this issue?

You know, I'm not sure we'll figure out why my default font sizes look so tiny, but it's probably a moot point, because (a) nobody else seems to be having a problem, and (b) I'm not going to change how I browse the Web (i.e. changing my minimum font size) anyway.

That being said, here are some simple changes that would solve 99% of the problems I'm having at larger-than-expected font sizes:

1) In the "What's New" section, the text from the highlighted top part labeled " Oct/04/06 WORLDWORKS EXTREME MAKEOVER" (<div class="whatsNewHighlightContent">) bumps into the text below that. I'd recommed either making that part a bit taller (easy), making it a separate section (<div class="featureBigOuter"> - easy by clumsy), or making it resize like the other sections (better).

2) In the "What's Coming" section, the WIP table scales horizontally with font size, making it run into the User Build Spotlight next to it. Might as well make this table fixed-width, and/or fixed font size.

With those two small fixes, the front page will look almost perfect.

Additionally:

* On the product pages, make the text in the "designer" section (top right, above the PDF download) fixed size. It's enclosed in a fairly small fixed-size box anyway.

* In the "Newst Kitbash Releases" on the Kitbash page, the text above the table (<div class="whatsNewHighlightContent">) has the same problem as the "What's New" section on the fornt page: make it larger, a separate section, or allow it to rescale. The table below that seems to be more problematic than the one on the front page. Using a fixed font size for the contents of the table would be acceptable.


There you go, all in all not too many changes required, with mimimum impact on your "standard" viewers, and it will make the new website quite acceptable up to 16 point font size and above. There's some more minor things, but everything else actually already rescales admirably well!


Besides, it'll make me shut up.

Very shiney! I like this format a lot.

Just a note: I didn't notice the new format or the email until after someone on the Radio Rivendell TS said something. It was the topic of discussion for like an hour. I'm hoping that some of the 50 odd people who were there that night actually buy something. Overall, the new site design got a positive reaction on Radio Rivendell.

Not sure what to check next, but I'll keep playing with it.

Somebody did something, because I just checked again, and while "all" of the lower bits are still not there, at least one row of pixels is.

The "y" as a little tail, as does the "g". It's easier to tell on the "g" because none of the horizontal pixels are there, but that first pixel that drops down is definately there now, and wasn't before.

Same with the "p" in Hilltop. The first pixel is there.

Tried this in both AOL and IE, same thing.

Okay, try now. The spacing isn't as tight - but perhaps it will be more readable, as well as fixing the truncated characters.

That did the trick!
