I've used PhotoShop to get a general idea of what I was doing with my CWU fortress/prison I built a while ago. I've also used Dundjinni by Fluid. One of the nice things about Dundjinni is it uses grids to place items which you can use to then build pieces to turn the 2d map you've created into a 3d one. Beyond that, I just try and get an idea of what I'm looking for from a modular perspective. Most of my builds are not permanent ones. Err at least most of the 3d ones aren't. So far, the only really permanent one is the Maiden. Skunk Check out my fantasy campaign, Wizard Quest, a world using Wizards of the Coast’s 3.5 DnD system by visiting . I use Profantasy Campaign Cartographer for making maps. Works quite well for making maps for both RPG's and Table Top War Games. |

I've got Campaign Cartographer also. Very nice product and I like it alot! Edit: I've got Dundjnni also, like that for dungeons and buildings but like CC2 for countryside maps. Graph Paper is all well and good, once I own the set. However, I was hoping to look at the lyaout tool to get a feel for the kinds of things I could do with the set, to see if I can build the kinds of things I want to build. EDIT: And now I see that it is back, AND I love the selection of rooms/shapes! YAY!!! |

I have used SketchUp by Google to plan my future layouts. I had to make the models myself, but it was fun doing it. Below is the link for the city I plan on making. |
