Any suggestions on a better name for this kitbash? I'll admit I'm at a loss on how to name it without losing the intent of the kitbash.

I'm working on a build of Pharaoh's Descent, but I'm irritated at the way the exterior slanted walls come together when you have multiple levels. They apparently designed it to have a gap between levels. It's probably so you can easily grab hold of a floor to lift it off, but the OCD in me is going batty over this. I really want a nice, clean slanted exterior. Example of what I'm talking about: So, I'm kitbashing the exterior walls so they extend a little higher--just about to the top of the next floor. I'm hoping this will create a better look for the exterior of a pyramid. I'm about 90% done. I just have the last page of the exteriors to do, that 1" or 1.5" slanted wall. I've got all the others done and have printed and assembled a sample of each and it's all working out really well so far. I still have to print and assemble a bunch of pieces so I can confirm that it'll give the look I want. More pictures will be added in the next few days as I finish this and test it out. |

Not sure. I suppose that could work. It should let you grab the floors, too. I'm not 100% sure how would be best to come up with something like that, though, 'cuz many times folks don't get the sides of their tiles perpendicular to the tops. And I would think any approach like that would need to rely upon the sides of the tiles. If you've got some detailed ideas on how to make that work, by all means, throw it out here. |

I think connecting them to tiles would be too much work to bother. It would mean having more little bits floating around, and railings, if not done well, can have issues with tearing or getting stuck. Hinterland Cliff walls went the route of having a 1/4" lip at the top that goes over the edge of the tiles that rest on them, so it's not unheard of to have the walls (in this case, slanted walls) cover the edges of the tiles. |

Oh, I suppose building them like railings where they're attached to partial Linx Tabs so they could just be slotted in on the external edges might work. Personally, I don't use Linx Tabs at all now, so I don't have an interest in doing that. But it might be doable that way. |

Initial builds are moving along well, but I've got our 1 big gaming Convention in town this weekend, so my time will be limited this week. As I've been building some 6 inch exterior walls for this, I've been frustrated by the way WWG did them. They broke the back and the front out so you have to print them on 2 separate pages, cut them and then slap glue on one and manage to line them up just right so they glue together. I've been able to do it thus far, but I can't see everyone having that good of luck--especially if they're using glue that doesn't allow for any adjustments once the 2 pieces are touching. So, last night, I went into GIMP and put the 2 pieces together onto 1 page. With my "stretched" exterior walls, one side ends up a little outside the cutting area for a robocutter. Not a big deal, as it's far less beyond than TLX wrappers are. But, man, I was easily able to get the original exterior walls onto one page and stay WITHIN the registration marks. I printed and robocut 1 of them last night just to be sure. And it worked just fine. I might need to adjust my cutting template or the actual image file a bit, but it worked pretty well. I totally cannot figure out why WWG didn't do this from the start. Pics: |
