What's gotten in the way in the past is my overly high expectations. I'm going to be a little more realistic on this one. I've got a 3" and 6" wall segment done, so I'll do some posts next. I'll try to post some pictures once that's built. Since I've got a template for 1/2 height walls and posts, I might try those, too, with a transition wall between them. That might be kind of neat for something.
To decorate the walls a bit, I'll look into adding stuff like cow hides, heads-on-stakes, war paint, blood splatters and maybe arrows sticking out of places. I don't know. I don't want to over-promise.
