I swore I wouldn't make a roof system for that kitbash unless I had a way to make roof/truss pieces that weren't tied together the way TLX roof/truss pieces are. Well, since I'm making OK progress on a new roof/truss system and I've gotten at least some positive feedback on it, I'd like actually implement a roof system that people might use, and expose this to a wider audience. Here's a 5 minute attempt at a leafy roof. Here's a closer view of the shingles: I can work on making this a little more uneven (making a brush out of the shingle, applying jitter to it for example) and adding some stains and other weathering to make it look more interesting. I just wanted a starting point. I had some plans for small TLX houses that blended in with a natural setting, and these roofs would work nicely with that too. What do you think? |

Gambrel roof would be cool (though tends to be associated with post medieval architecture). One thing I'm keen on is eaves at the ends of a straight roof. The other thing that would be awesome, but have no idea how to get a credible soft look in cardstock, is thatched roofs. |

So, I have had some busy weeks... I haven't been at my crafting station for more than 15 minutes in the last couple weeks, and my CIS seems to be having trouble with the color black... Despite this, I carved out some time yesterday and got some roof texture done, and I started "try #5" for the trusses. Specifically, I'm going to try a truss that looks exactly like the TLX truss, but with the slots applied differently. I think the net result will work fine. I was able to get two trusses printed out, though the coloring on them is meh because of my printer. Maybe tonight I'll be able to make cutfiles for them and get them built... Why go through the trouble? This truss will fix the issue of having untextured surfaces so visible, and I don't think it adds much build complexity. |

I was having trouble with black on my CIS until I realized that the port for the pump actually sticks a little above the bottom of the reservoir. So, it looked like there was still ink there, but it was just sucking in air. |
