Post subject: | Kitbash Question |
Hi there, I'm a dabbling texture artist and I have found myself messing with the Mayhem Traffic set in my spare time. I have ended up with 40+ custom designs for vans, hatchbacks, sedans and so on. Now, a friend of mine saw these the other day and mentioned he wouldn't mind having them for the modern project he is working on. However, I'm aware that it is illegal to distribute WWG files to others (even if they also own the set?) and also to modify existing designs other than to submit them for a kitbash. So the question is, if I wanted to submit all the files, would it be better to submit all 40+ designs together, or to separate them into categories, vehicle type for example? Doing that though would create a disparity as I have done more van designs than the others (making up silly company names is fun!). Also, would you even want that many designs to begin with? Some are only simple recolours of existing vehicles. Thanks in advance for your help! If you need more info I'll be happy to give it. |

Especially if it's your first kitbash, I'd say submit them all together and let the judges see whether it warrants any updating. If you're thinking that it's just too huge, then consider just grouping them arbitrarily and call them "UrbanWulf Vehicle Pack 1", "UrbanWulf Vehicle Pack 2" etc. That way, you could include a bunch of vans and a couple sedans, and spread them out over a couple sets. But, if you submit it all at once, you can let the judges decide if that is necessary or not. Plus, the judges might make suggestions if they feel specific designs should be left out, or if they want to challenge you to improve on some designs. If that's the case, you might want to release some now and work on the others for later. It's great to hear someone willing to take on submitting some kitbashes! |

Hiya, thanks for your replies! I think I will submit them all at once and see how it goes, if the judges want it separated into smaller chunks then that is easily done. Hopefully the designs will make the grade. I may post a teaser here later! Cheers. |

Note that with summer holidays, you may have no words of the judges before september (I, for example, will be out for the next 3 weeks...). But I'm glad to see new bashes ! |

I'll be away for a few weeks as well, albeit with internet access, so waiting won't be a problem! |

That's really well done. I thought that spare tire on the back was actually something you had sitting on top of the model at first. It took me a second to realize it was just in the graphic. |

You might not want to be linking to the full sized graphic... Other than that, it seems brilliant! Nicely done! |

Thanks for your kind words! You made a good point about the full size thing, I have shrunk and added a watermark. I can't claim credit for the wheel on the back, that part is original from the WWG release! I have literally just recoloured and added text. |

UrbanWulf: I'm a sucker for vehicles of all types, and have a massive stack printed out just ready for me to turn my attention (and knife) to them. Your sample looked great - and very creative. By all means, SUBMIT! |
