I'm hurrying to put the finishing touches on a simple addition for Tumbleweed Pass (and, I suppose there is no reason it wouldn't work with Building Essentials too!) Really, the kitbash itself is done, but making promo pics is HARD for me to do. I'm speedmounting some tiles tonight to see if I can't at least get a floor down (I can add in a sky later). Stay tuned! Oh, and 1000th post! Woot! |

I suck at taking pictures, but I'll admit, I haven't really tried with these. I'm gonna try to set up a photo area at work where we have lots of good lighting and white backgrounds. This was shot in my kitchen with bright morning light illuminating half of it, and completely shrouding the other half in darkness. I'll be making and texturing the second bit of geometry today, and I'll submit to the judges for feedback shortly thereafter. I will likely tweak things a bit more to make it super-easy to get the roof bit on and off for maximum foldflatability. |

Second geometry is done and textured. I'm gonna probably include variants for each of the types of doors from the set. Might as well! With any luck I'll have a chance to build the second variation tonight and snap a good-enough-for-a-kitbash preview picture, and poof! Off to the judges with you! I wanted to get this done quickly, as I've got a family vacation coming up next week, and that'll make it tougher for me to get something else submission-ready for this month. I'll still try for at least one more set of low walls... Probably for The Garden, because I love green. |

OK. Submitted this and hopefully I'll get some feedback from the judges if I've done something terrible. Two styles of entryway, four types of doors for each, so eight pages total. I have some other ideas for similar mini building extensions. I'm trying them out in sketchup first before I move to paper. |

Looks like some good ideas to add to the set. Try making a . It will help with the photography. Here is one idea on constructing one. Step 10 shows using a curved piece of posterboard as a backer to help reduce shadows and unwanted lines. I have backers of various colors. Boxes can be found just about everywhere. The other materials can be found at almost any discount store. The most expensive things would be the light sources. I have made a small photo light box using USLtr size card stock and a larger one using a corrugated cardboard box like in the one in the example above. You can use a cheap white shower curtain for the diffusing material. The shower curtain is more durable.

mproteau, I love this. It's little touches like this that help make builds seem more "alive". I don't have the Deadfall set yet, but hopefully by the time I *do* get it, this will be an actual thing on "My Kitbashes"! @DougT: Thanks for the light box info. Incredibly useful *and* simple. One of my favorite combinations! |

@LD2062 - thanks for the reminder. I've read that post many times in the past, and have even tried once to set up an elaborate frame for a light box. It was a failure. I will take my kids on a trip to the dollar store across town this weekend, and try to recreate what you've done there. |
