Nothing terribly hard to fix, but what a pain!

Rather bizarre day at work today. Due to the city of Boston and surrounding towns being on lock-down, most of my co-workers are not allowed to come to work today. So, I'm going to try to knock out a couple half-height walls today. I've got the templates almost complete for all the half-height posts, so this morning if I'm lucky I'll get the half-height wall templates done. I'm looking to pull off 3", 6", diagonals and curved half-height walls. If I can get enough done today, I can do a test print tonight to see if these things hold up well. I had crafted 1" height walls before, but these will be 7/8" height instead (allowing for a floor on top, and another half-height wall, making it a full 2" combined). |

horrible that Boston is in lockdown, but at least they know who they are looking for. Awesome that you are doing half height walls, I have had a couple times where I thought, "hey, I need a low wall here...." |

So, I'm hoping in the grand scheme of things, 6px won't make a difference... Somehow my 3- and 4-way posts ended up 6px taller than my 2-way posts... Harumph. I'm gonna do cutfiles tonight, I think, and so I'll cut out some untextured ones just to see how they go together. I've got templates made up for 3", 6", short and long angle, and arc walls. I figure while I'm here, I might as well make 1", 1.5" and 2" templates too. I'm thinking it'd be fun to make hedges this way... |

Three types of walls done for Thoumont's, and one for The Garden. Hopefully doing the posts will be as easy as the walls! But, tonight, I should really get the new gable kitbash ready for submission. |

@oldschooldm - normally I'd say the topiaries don't count, 'cause those weren't technically released as a kitbash, but seeing as how your cutfiles have saved me half a lifetime in cutting, I'll accept the topiary reference!  So, working from home this morning, which means I can babysit the robocutter while I test some half-height posts. Two notes to self: 1) Double-check that I'm using the right cutfiles. It's currently doing regular cutfiles against an angled post. Sigh. At least I can manually cut/score the rest of it. 2) Hand-score the posts. I personally like the perforations that the cutter does, but OY! It takes SO LONG to use the cutter to score. It's only 15 lines! It would take 10 seconds for it to do the cut lines, but it's going to take two cups of coffee to wait for it to finish scoring. Zzzz... |

Gotta head into work now, but I was able to get two 3-way posts and some 6" walls done to try out, and they seem to work just fine. I should be able to submit a couple sets of half-height walls by this weekend. |

TOTALLY didn't go the way I planned it. My CIS is printing funny - probably needs some routine maintenance to push the ink through the system. It happens. But, my printouts all suck pretty bad. I still made some walls, just to test out a couple new cutfiles: Those are supposed to be lush green Garden walls. Nice, eh? Ah well, at least I don't feel so bad tossing them out. I won't be posting any more pictures until I've got a set properly printed and edged! So, what's left to do... I'll focus on getting the cutfiles made for all the different walls and posts, and I need to clean up some scorelines on the walls - if you're not really familiar with TLX (or maybe even if you are!) it's easy to miss some of the scorelines because I accidentally turned them into solid black lines... I won't be submitting them *all* for this month. I think I'm gonna take a kitbashing break for the remainder of the month, then start off next month by packaging up a couple more sets of these, and if well received, the gables too. |

Cutfiles are done for all the wall lengths, and I'm test cutting some stone walls right now. They've been popping off the page perfectly so far, but I probably just jixed myself! Printer is doing well again, too, so I did these up on photo paper. I've got to redo all the templates to include the wall sizes on the side tabs. It's too easy to get confused when they're all lying about. What a pain! I knew I had to do it, but I totally forgot. Now I've got a bunch of files to clean up. I've learned, too, that GIMP is easy to crash.

OK. Fixed all the walls and got them exported. Fixed some of the posts, and got 1/2 way through printing before my printer started acting up again... Got all the cut files made. Tomorrow is a crazy day - no papercrafting for me! But Sunday I should be able to do some kitbash packaging. I'm thinking now that I'll package them up each separately (rather than by set). I dunno. I'll let judges weigh in. As it stands, I've got: Thoumont's wood walls Thoumont's plaster walls Thoumont's stone walls Friar stone walls Garden stone walls I'd like to make walls from other sets too, but I haven't gotten around to it. Here's the short list of what I would like to do before I move on to something else: Himmelveil Streets walls! Custom hedge walls (perhaps I can take advantage of the Hinterland shrubbery for this!) |

ROTFL... My arc wall template... I made the arc walls in both regular and anti-warp variants. HA HA HA HA I'm only human! Sigh. I knew it was all too easy. At least it's only one cutfile and five pages to redo. I'm too anal to just white out some of the paper so there's no anti-warp flaps. I'll go and slide the pieces around so I can fit more on a page. I'll still try to submit one set of walls before the end of the month, just not *right now*.

I hear ya, mproteau. I have 2 kitbashes I am currently working on finishing up (Feisty Friar Spiral Stairs and Quarter-Round Himmelveil Streets Tiles). Both, once the templates are made, would be very easy to make others from. (Thoumont's Spiral Stairs, Deadfall Spiral Stairs, etc, Himmelveil Sewers Quarter Round Tiles...), but in retrospect, I'd like to get them to go through and make sure I didn't miss something before spending more time on making more bashes. Good news is, I am just waiting on a couple things to glue up before I take the promo pics. Everything else is done. |

I just submitted the second set of half-height walls - a set that goes along with the Friar walls. I'll probably speed things up next month by doing some 3d renderings for promo shots rather than trying to build *everything* and take good photos. I don't have the free time at home to get everything built quickly, and I don't have the skills to take good photos. Hopefully people won't mind 3d renderings.

Hey anyone who is listening... Have you found the half-height walls useful? I've got a couple more sets of them on my hard-drive, waiting to be packaged up as a kitbash with promo shots and what not. I've got a lot of other projects, so if it's not something people are interested in, I won't put the effort into them. If you have used the half-height walls and would like to see more, post some pics in the gallery, and I'll make sure to submit another set for the next round of kitbashes! |
