Hi All, I'm trying to kit bash some 6x6 TLX floors from Cave Works but I cant seem to get the TLX floor template the right size. I'm using paint.net (the only program I'm familiar with using) Does anyone have an "empty" TLX template that I can add layers to? Or have an easy way to take the TLX I own and open them up at the right scale? Any tips are appreciated! |

I posted a which goes over some real basics with using GIMP and OpenOffice. If you're interested in using free software, it's a starting point. If you have any trouble doing things in GIMP, I can try to post step-by-step instructions. |

if you don't want to invest in photoshop, I have had great success kitbashing with GIMP. I do have TLX templates got GIMP, but I am not sure if WWG would want me to hand them out. |

Thanks for the helpful replies all. I was able to import titan 6x6 floor tile in to paint.net and then remove the titan texture leaving a blank TLX 6x6 floor tile. I just couldn't get the size of the tile right... I think my 6x6 tile is actually 7+ x 7 something.... I cant seem to get a grid or ruler to pop up to scale it right. Once I get the blank TLX tile the right size, adding textures is a snap. I've downloaded GIMP and I'm going to follow mproteau's guide to see how far I can get. Any other helpful suggestions are always appreciated! |

1. Select and copy-to-clipboard the whole page in your pdf viewer 2. Open new file in your graphics editing program. Photoshop has the option to automatically make it the size of the file in the clipboard, otherwise make it 8.5 inches x 11 inches (the size of the page). 3. In any way, make sure the image actually is the right size and resolution (300 DPI). 4. Now you can get started on your TLX template. |

on the wrong size issue... I open op the PDF's in Adobe, make sure the resolution is set to 300, and then use the Snapshot tool. Then, I go to GIMP, make a new image that is 8.5x11" with 300 resolution, and paste the image in. I've had little problems with different sizes. |

Hi Guys I would like your opinion. Should I leave the top of the walls flat and straight like in the other TLX sets OR should I let them curve up like in the regular caveworks set? I don't plan on putting any roofs or multi levels so it would be for aesthetic reasons. |

The Garden set has a bunch of walls that arch up, for example, rather than end flat where the next level would be. In theory, if the walls like up with the edge of the tiles, then the tiles will rest fine on the posts, and the walls won't get in the way. Alternatively, you can get creative and add some "ledges" to the walls (kind of like the anti-warp bar on some walls) to let a floor tile rest, if so desired. I kind of like the idea of not having them all flat, since that makes the "landscape" more varied if you just have the single level. Having never played with CaveWorks, and having long desired a TLX solution, I'm interested in seeing what you come up with! After Christmas, I'll be getting familiar with the TLX Cliffs, and I'm imagining a similar strategy for cave walls and floor tiles... |
