Hey guys, some questions on textures and things... first of all i was interested in trying my hand at kit bashing... and im really interested in creating my own imagery on the tiles and geometry already given to us by world works... so.. whats the best way to do this? im assuming everyone uses either photoshop or a similar raster based program? to get all the blend modes and filters? is this correct? so how do the designers go about creating this stuff? start with real reference photos of patio block and stone and then change colors? and add stuff on top? is it all hand drawn and created? just looking for a starting point here so my results can end up fitting in with what is already done? has any of the designers given us a tutorial on the actual creation of the art? or say a step by step to designing a tile texture? some help would be very much appreciated... thanks! also havent been on the site for a while... things look fantastic! and a bunch of free kitbash downloads today for already owning the parent product!? thanks goes to world works for being a company that truly cares about their customer... and thanks to all those who have created these kitbashes.. awesome! -earl- |

You should probably also read the submission guidelines pretty carefully. I was idly thinking about working on one of these, and it looked like I would probably run afoul of either the geometry or the texture requirements. It would be frustrating to finish and have something rejected for not following the guidelines! Steve |

yea, i completely understand about why they dont want original stuff and all the reasons.. im just interested in creating some textures and seeing if i can get some stuff to work on my own... had a few ideas in mind and also just really interested in creating some stuff on photoshop because im fairly new at using it seriously and not just using it to put my friend friends heads on kitten bodies and stuff.. i also am interested in doing some kitbashing of the actual kits too so i get it. anyway if anyone has some advice i would still like to hear it? i know some of the designers frequent these forums which is awesome... and also some of the kitbash guys who are making some great stuff. also if you have any links to some good online resources i would love if you could post them up.. thanks as always this is pretty sharp community here and so far i am really happy with the product... maybe i will post of few pics soon of my build wip.. thanks -earl- |
